Continue readingThis horn scaled Swiss Army Knife may very well be the oldest one in my collection now that my Elsener Soldier and horn scaled gardening knife have been sold. Based on the tang stamps (VICTORINOX on the main blade and ARMÈE SUISSE on the bottle opener) and some tool details I’m dating this to the 1930s. In that time it was probably named 234H but given its similarities to the modern day Spartan that’s what I’m calling it. And yes,
Continue readingHere is another nice 74mm Victorinox Swiss Army Knife with the world logo. This logo is used in some countries instead of the shield and cross for religious reasons. Knives with this logo are fairly hard to get. I do have a black Executive and a red SwissChamp with leather sheath as well. I’ve also seen pictures of 84mm and 111models with alternative logos instead of the cross and shield emblem. In some cases the kitchen cutlery logo is used.
Continue readingI feel like someone is watching me. A nice Limited Edition Victorinox Spartan made for Urban Outfitters. The scales are actually white, with a yellowish white print wit lots of eyes on both front and back.
Continue readingThe 2013 edition in the Victorinox Damascus series was a Limited Edition Explorer. The Victorinox Explorer was Carl Elsener Sr.’s favorite SAK model. Elsener passed away in 2013 and to commemorate him Victorinox released this Damascus Limited Edition with his autograph laser etched on the front. The scales are hardwood; the ones on this particular knife (and another one I owned) are perfect but on lots of these the scales are very rough and uneven. The autograph is often very
Continue readingIn September 2017 Victorinox introduced a new version of their I.N.O.X. watch called the Sky High Limited Edition. While the watch is pretty cool the reason why I bought it was the Handyman that was included in the gift box. It’s a regular Handyman but with white scales with the famous astronaut inlay on the front. It’s limited to 2,000 pieces worldwide and it features a white paracord keychain matching the Naimakka strap of the watch.
Continue readingThis is an awesome Victorinox Fieldmaster made for the Mexican market. It has a lot of unusual details like the uncommon nylon pouch with yellow piping, yellow tweezer head and translucent black scales. I think these actually differ from the onyx scales that were available some years ago. I’m not sure about total production numbers for the Mexican market but a very small number of these were available in Spain.
Continue readingIn 2017 Victorinox introduced this Limited Edition Fieldmaster dedicated to the Ski World Championship in St. Moritz. This SAK has a nice abstract image of the Swiss alps on the front and a ski with the Victorinox brand name on the back scale. There is a House of Switzerland 2017 laser engraving on the main blade. I do not have an official number but there were supposed to be 5000 of this SAK made.
Continue readingUpdated group photo of most of the translucent scale colors, excluding the colors used in the 58mm line. Note that the two onyx SAKs used to be quite different from each other a few years ago or even just two years ago when I took another group pic of several translucent scale colors. They have both faded even more due to exposure to UV light. The pink one is a Rose Edition officer’s knife. That color was very uncommon back
Continue readingThis is a Victorinox Climber with awesome lime green scales. It features the BLS logo on both the front and the back scales. BLS is one of Switzerland’s biggest railway companies and they use this bright lime green in their corporate identity. Usually, Victorinox only offers the standard scale colors for advertising SAKs, but it turns out it’s possible to order a non-standard color. These SAKs are obviously quite uncommon (or even very rare like my orange Cybertool). However, this
